Welcome to February's Pick 3 Party hosted by Marissa from the Inspired Owl's Corner, Lisa from PAWSitively Teaching, and Ashley from Just Reed! It's February and there's so much to celebrate. It's Black History month, and Dental Health month. We celebrate Groundhog Day, President's Day and Valentine's Day too! And to top it all off, February is a short month and many schools have a whole week off for winter break. So there's a lot to pack into a short amount of time. I found some great pins I hope you will find inspirational to enjoy the month.
This is a great idea to decorate your classroom door. It is an eye-catching design and the best part is the kids participate by writing about what they love in the paper hearts.
This is a great poster of Abraham Lincoln and the message is a strong one. Lincoln was promoting the Golden Rule in the 1800s to treat others as you would like to be treated. It is a good message to teach kids in our classrooms.
How many presidents can your students recognize?
This poster could be a great inspiration to create a project for President's Day to learn about the men who belong to that exclusive group of leaders. Give each student the name of one president and have them do a short research project to find out three-five facts (in order to keep it short) about their president. Fast finishers can do more pages so that each president will be included. Using just one sheet of paper the student pastes a picture of the president at the top, indicates the dates the president lived, the dates he was president, and lists the important facts they learned. Facts could also be written in paragraph form. Then the teacher binds the pages in chronological order to create a class book about the Presidents of the United States. If you want every kid to have a copy, duplicate the pages and bind into individual books for each child to keep. This would be a great project for kids to learn about American history and at the same time not be too time-consuming. They always love student-created books.
