July Main Graphic

Welcome to July's Pinterest Pick 3 Linky hosted by Marissa from the Inspired Owl's Corner, Lisa from PAWSitively Teaching, and  Ashley from Just Reed! It's  July and finally school is out here on Long Island! I hope yours is too. Everyone is getting ready for summer's big holiday, the 4th of July.  I found some cool pins for the summer that I hope you will find inspiring to spruce up a get-together you are planning or maybe take a little gift to a party you have been invited to! It's summer, relax and have fun!

Trifle for the 4th

I found this trifle on Pinterest, but I make a similar one. First, make 2 boxes of any flavored red Jello and chill in the refrigerator until it jiggles but is not firm. Then use a glass bowl to make your trifle. It is important to be able see the delicious treat through the glass. Layer #1 Scoop a layer of Jello into the bowl. Layer #2 Cover with a layer of fruit--strawberries, blueberries, and peaches cut into bite-sized pieces. Layer #3 Cover with Cool Whip. The repeat layers 1, 2 and 3. Decorate the top as desired. Serve in see-through bowls or cups.  It makes a light, cool tasty treat that is sure to be a hit!

Geranium wAmFlag

What a great way to spice up your patio to look festive to celebrate America's birthday. Get a great big pot of red geraniums and stick an American flag in the pot. It is an instant mega-decoration. After the holiday remove the flags and enjoy your beautiful geraniums all summer. Save the flags for Labor Day when they can returned to your flower pots again. This patriotic plant would make a great gift as well!

Watermelon Paper

Here's a fun project to do with your kids this summer!  Let them be part of the celebration to make an adorable hand-painted tablecloth for your barbecue or they can use the paper to  wrap gifts for a summer party.  Take a large sheet of white paper from a roll of paper. Cut a potato into quarters and use the pieces to dip in red paint and make prints on the "tablecloth." Then use green paint to draw watermelon rind and black paint to plant some seeds around . The kids will love it and so will your guests!
